How do I add new payees?
See screenshot below. Adding a new payee is simple. Simply type the name of the person or company in the “Need to pay someone new?” field and click Add.
We will ask just a few questions like your account number or where you send your payment. Fill out the form, click the Add payee button and you are ready to make a payment.
Note: If you don’t have any payees set up, or just a few, we will suggest some common payees at the bottom of the page. If you see anyone there you need to pay, click their name to begin the add process.
Why do I get the Duplicate Payment Warning?
Duplicate Payment warnings are caused by scheduling a payment on the same date, for the same amount, and to the same payee. The system will not allow you to schedule duplicate payments.
How do I enroll for MHV Bill Payer?
To enroll for MHV Bill Payer, simply attempt to access MHV Bill Payer through MHV Home Banking.
When can I start using MHV Bill Pay?
You will be able to start using MHV Bill Payer immediately after enrolling for it.
When is MHV Bill Payer available?
You may schedule payments 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but please note that payments are only processed on business days.
Can I pay bills to payees outside the U.S.?
No. Payments cannot be made to Payees outside the U.S.
What do payees actually receive?
Electronic payees receive payment information in an electronic format. Non-electronic merchants or individual payees receive a laser-printed paper check sent through the U.S. Postal Service.
Who can be paid using the MHV Bill Payer Service?
Anyone in the fifty United States and territories who can accept a check, with the exception of tax payments (such as federal, state and local), court-directed payments (such as alimony and child support) and any other government related payments.
What Browsers and Operating System Support Bill Payer?

How do I view my payment history?
Payment history can be linked to from the Make Payments page. Locate the name of the payee and click on it. When the task list appears, click View Payment History.
How far back can I view historical payments?
We make your last 24 months of payment history and eBills available online for you to view. If for some reason you need payment information dating back past 24 months, give us a call and we will assist in retrieving that information.
Can I use MHV Bill Payer with all my accounts?
Only MHV checking accounts may be used for payments.
How are MHV Bill Payer transactions reflected on my account?
All MHV Bill Payer transactions are reflected as an electronic ACH withdrawal from your account. The description that will appear is MHV BILLPAYER+ BILL PAYMT.
How are payments processed?
We issue two kinds of payments, electronic and check:
When scheduling a payment to a payee that we pay electronically, please select a send date that is at least 3 days in advance to the due date
When scheduling a payment to a payee that we pay by check, please select a send date that is at least 5 days in advance to the due date
Use our calendar widget when scheduling payments to assist in understanding when a payment will be delivered by, based on the send date you choose.
Are there any types of payments I can’t make?
Due to legal requirements, we limit the ability to make certain types of payments. Payments to payees outside of the United States are prohibited and may not be issued under any circumstances. In addition, the following payments are discouraged, but may be scheduled at your own risk:
tax payments to the Internal Revenue Service or any state or other government agency
court-ordered payments, such as alimony or child support
payments to insurance companies
We will not notify you if you attempt to make any of these payments and we will not be liable if we do not make a prohibited or discouraged payment that you've scheduled.
We make managing your payees a snap. Find the payee in your list and click on its corresponding Options button
The Options window will open allowing you to perform the following tasks:
eBills: enroll/edit/unenroll (if an eBill is available for that payee)
Next due reminder: add/edit/delete a next due reminder
Recurring payment: add/edit/delete a recurring payment rule
Account information: add/edit your payee account information
Hide payee: hides your payee from your list to assist in managing a long list of payees
Delete payee: permanently deletes this payee from the system. If you need to make a subsequent payment to a deleted payee, you will need to add that payee again
What happens if sufficient funds (Non-sufficient funds or NSF) are not available in the account used for MHV Bill Payer?
If a Bill Payment is returned non-sufficient funds, the system to block your MHV Bill Payer account, preventing you from making more bill payments until the NSF condition is resolved. Any future dated recurring payments scheduled for release during the time the account is blocked will not be sent.
When are funds debited from my checking account?
If the payee is being paid with either a paper check or an electronic payment, the amount of the payment will be deducted from your account within 2 business days of the payment processing date.
How is the payment deducted from my checking account?
The payment is deducted by direct ACH debit.
Are payments made electronically or by check?
Payments are made either by paper check or electronically by ACH credit. The method depends on whether our MHV Bill Payer processor has established an electronic payment relationship with the payee and they are found on the electronic payee database.
When are checks issued to my payees?
Some payees do not currently accept electronic payments. Therefore, we recommend that you set the send on date at least 5 business days in advance of your bill due date.
So, for example, if your payment is due to the payee on the 15th of the month and you set the payment date in advance as the 10th, we will mail the check to your payee via first class mail. The money will be deducted from your account within 1-2 days of the send on date you provide.
If you wait until the 10th to set the payment to go out, you must authorize your payment before 7:30 PM ET. (If you schedule the payment after 7:30 PM ET, your payment will be issued the following morning.)
When are electronic funds transfers sent to my payees?
For payees who can accept Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT), we recommend that you set the send on date at least 3 business days in advance of the due date. If you authorize payment in advance, your EFT will be sent after 7:30 PM ET on the day you designated for the payment to be sent. To have an EFT issued on the same day you authorize payment, you must authorize the transaction by 7:30 PM ET. Please note that some EFT transactions may clear your account the same day they are issued. Be sure your account is funded in advance to avoid bounced payments.
Can I pay my bills on the weekend?
You may set up payments during the weekend. However, the first day you may schedule payments (single payments or the first of a recurring payment) is the first business day following the weekend.
How are multiple bill payments within a single day debited?
Each bill payment is debited separately.
Does MHV Bill Payer have payment amount limits?
MHV Bill Payer has a payment cap of $ 9,999.99, regardless of how the payment is disbursed. There is also a maximum daily limit of $19,999.99.
How do I place a stop payment on a bill payment?
A payment may be edited or deleted anytime before the payment is processed. For stop payment requests initiated after processing, you must contact us for assistance at 800.451.8373 6000 or visit your local branch. Please note: Payments remitted electronically cannot be stopped once processed.
What happens if a bill is paid late?
MHV Bill Payer issues payments automatically on the exact date that you specify. It is important to realize that not all payees accept electronic payments. In such cases, we will issue a paper check and you should select a send on date that is at least 5 business days before a bill due date. This will allow a paper check issued on your behalf to arrive at your payee on time. For payees that accept Electronic Funds Transfers, you should schedule the payment 3 business days in advance of the due date. However, you should be sure that your funding account is funded on the day you issue payment, as some EFT payments are posted to your payee's account on the same day.
