How do I add new payees?

See screenshot below. Adding a new payee is simple. Simply type the name of the person or company in the “Need to pay someone new?” field and click Add.

When are checks issued to my payees?
Some payees do not currently accept electronic payments. Therefore, we recommend that you set the send on date at least 5 business days in advance of your bill due date.

So, for example, if your payment is due to the payee on the 15th of the month and you set the payment date in advance as the 10th, we will mail the check to your payee via first class mail. The money will be deducted from your account within 1-2 days of the send on date you provide.

When are electronic funds transfers sent to my payees?
For payees who can accept Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT), we recommend that you set the send on date at least 3 business days in advance of the due date. If you authorize payment in advance, your EFT will be sent after 7:30 PM ET on the day you designated for the payment to be sent. To have an EFT issued on the same day you authorize payment, you must authorize the transaction by 7:30 PM ET. Please note that some EFT transactions may clear your account the same day they are issued. Be sure your account is funded in advance to avoid bounced payments.

Can I pay my bills on the weekend?
You may set up payments during the weekend.  However, the first day you may schedule payments (single payments or the first of a recurring payment) is the first business day following the weekend.

How are multiple bill payments within a single day debited?
Each bill payment is debited separately.

A payment may be edited or deleted anytime before the payment is processed. For stop payment requests initiated after processing, you must contact us for assistance at 800.451.8373 6000 or visit your local branch.  Please note: Payments remitted electronically cannot be stopped once processed.

What happens if a bill is paid late?

MHV Bill Payer issues payments automatically on the exact date that you specify. It is important to realize that not all payees accept electronic payments. In such cases, we will issue a paper check and you should select a send on date that is at least 5 business days before a bill due date. This will allow a paper check issued on your behalf to arrive at your payee on time. For payees that accept Electronic Funds Transfers, you should schedule the payment 3 business days in advance of the due date. However, you should be sure that your funding account is funded on the day you issue payment, as some EFT payments are posted to your payee's account on the same day.
