Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do to prepare for the Conversion to MHV?

Here are some simple steps to take in order to prepare for Conversion Weekend:

  1. Note the Conversion dates on your calendar and be aware of downtime and limited access.
  2. Download and review the Conversion Guide and note what changes apply to you.
  3. Update your personal information with us to ensure your personal information on our system is correct. Please visit the CHEFCU location with any address, phone number or email changes.
  4. Download or print your e-Statements and check images for your records prior to 2:00pm on Thursday, January 5.
  5. Export all transaction data prior to 2:00pm on Thursday, January 5 as account history will not be carried over in Online Banking.
  6. Gather all Bill Payer payee information prior to 2:00pm on Thursday, January 5 to re-establish your Bill Pay information in MHV's Online Banking on or after Monday, January 9. Do not schedule any payments to be made after January 5 in CHEFCU's Bill Pay system.
  7. Complete necessary in-branch transactions prior to 2:00pm on Thursday, January 5.
  8. Make any loan or credit card payments that are due over Conversion Weekend prior to 2:00pm on Thursday, January 5.
  9. Plan ahead for your purchases/payments as there may be transaction amount limits. Take out cash ahead of time at an ATM to ensure you will have enough money available during Conversion Weekend.
  10. If you have changes to your auto insurance policy, please forward any updates to P.O. Box 1155, Kingston, NY 12402.
  11. If you have changes to your home insurance policy, please forward any updates to P.O. Box 1429, Kingston, NY 12402.

What new features/benefits will I be getting?

As of January 9, you will have access to the following:

  • 13 MHV branch locations
  • 60,000+ surcharge-free ATM network

Will the credit union be closed during the update?

The Central Hudson branch will close permanently at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 5. You can use any of MHV's 13 branch locations starting Monday, January 9.

What are the hours of MHV Branch locations?

All MHV branches are open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday and 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Saturday. Personal Teller Service is available from 6:00 am to 11:00pm daily. See branch locations here.

Does MHV have a Call Center?

Yes, to contact the MHV Call Center, please dial 845.336.4444, ext. 6000. Call Center hours are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday to Friday and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday.

Will my account number change?

Your new account number(s) will be your current member number plus a prefix and a suffix based on the account type. Please note: there may be instances where a completely new account number may need to be generated. You can find all of your new account numbers on your January statement from MHV.

Will my member number change?

Your member number will remain the same unless you currently have more than one member number. In that instance, your member number with MHV will be the lowest member number. For example, if you currently have 2 member numbers 1234 and 3456, your new member number will be 1234. If you are already an MHV member, your CHEFCU accounts will be combined under your existing MHV member number. Please note: there may be instances where a completely new member number may need to be generated. You can find your member number on your January statement from MHV.

Will my routing number change?

You can continue to use CHEFCU’s routing number. For any new ACH or check order please use MHV’s routing number 221976243.

Will my account change?

All of your accounts from CHEFCU will be converted to a similar MHV account.

Will I be able to use my Central Hudson EFCU Debit Card during Conversion Weekend?

Yes. However, transaction limits may apply. We recommended considering your payment needs over conversion weekend and take out cash from an ATM prior to 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 5.

Will I be able to use my Central Hudson EFCU Credit Card during Conversion Weekend?

Yes, your current CHEFCU Credit Card will continue to work during and after Conversion Weekend.

Will I receive a new MHV Debit Card?

Existing CHEFCU cardholders will receive replacement MHV Debit Cards with an EMV chip in December. Please activate and select a PIN as soon as possible. You should continue to use your CHEFCU Debit Card through January 8 and begin using your MHV Debit Card on January 9. Please update the card information on record with any merchants you have authorized to automatically charge your debit card.

Will I receive a new MHV Credit Card?

Your current CHEFCU Visa Credit Card will continue to work after the conversion. All of your current rates and terms will continue to apply. Card history and statements will not be available in MHV's Online Banking at this time. To make a payment, please mail to the address on your statement, schedule a Bill Pay in Online Banking or visit www.ezcardinfo.com. Payments will not be accepted at MHV branches.

Will I be able to withdraw funds from an ATM during Conversion Weekend?

Yes. However, transaction limits may apply. We recommended considering your payment needs over conversion weekend and take out cash from an ATM prior to 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 5.

Will my Debit card PIN number change?

Upon activation of your new MHV debit card, you will be asked to enter your desired PIN.

Will my direct deposits carry over?

Your existing direct deposits will automatically carry over to MHV and you will receive direct deposits to your account on the date listed on your paystub. Please review and adjust any automatic payments or withdrawals made from your account to ensure your funds are available. If you are not sure if this change will affect you, please contact the originator of your direct deposits. Please note: any allocations previously set to go directly to your loan will now go into your deposit account and be transferred to your loan as an automatic loan payment.

Are my scheduled transfers going to process while you are closed?

No. If you have any account transfers scheduled over Conversion Weekend, reschedule them to take place before 2:00pm on Thursday, January 5.

Will my scheduled transfers carry over to MHV’s Online Banking?

No. Scheduled transfers will NOT carry over and will have to be re-established in MHV’s Online Banking on or after January 9.

Will my Bill Payments carry over to MHV’s Online Banking?

You will need to establish your Bill Pay information in MHV's Online Banking on or after January 9. Please remember to gather your current Bill Pay payee information from CHEFCU's Bill Pay prior to 2:00pm on Thursday, January, 5.

Will my automatic loan payments carry over to MHV?

Effective January 9, all automatic loan payments will be made for the exact amount due on your scheduled due date during our nightly processing. Please visit any MHV branch or schedule a transfer in MHV's Online Banking if you would like to make additional principal payments.

What if I need to make a loan payment between January 5 and January 9?

You will have to plan ahead and make your loan payment prior to 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 5. However, you may not see it reflected in your account until January 9.

Will my loan payment address change?

Yes. Effective January 9 please mail loan payments to Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union,  P.O. Box 1429, Kingston, NY 12402

Will my Line of Credit Due Date Change?

Home Equity Lines of Credit will be due the 15th of each month and Unsecured Lines of Credit will be due the 27th of each month. There will not be a payment due for January. Your February payment amount and due date will be noted on your January statement from MHV.

How do I make my online loan payments after conversion?

You can make loan payments through MHV’s online Home Banking.

If I have an Auto Loan with Central Hudson EFCU, will my insurance information automatically be transferred to MHV?

Yes. We will be conducting a review of all insurance documentation associated with our auto loans. If your information is not up-to-date, our vendor, Lee & Mason, will contact you directly to request updated insurance documentation.

Is my Online Banking changing?

Yes, effective January 9, your account information will be transferred over to MHV’s Online Banking system and you will have access to MHV’s Mobile Banking App with Mobile Check Deposit, FinanceWorks™ money management tool and PopMoney. Do I need to re-enroll in Online Banking?

Your initial login to MHV’s Online Banking is as follows: Username: Current Central Hudson Username and Password: Last 5 digits of your Social Security Number. You will be prompted to change your Password and may need to change your Username to meet MHV's security requirements. Please note: If you currently use MHV's Online Banking you will continue to use that Username and Password to access your combined MHV and Central Hudson accounts. Will Online Banking and Audio Response work during Conversion Weekend?

No, all banking systems will be down as we transfer accounts to MHV. Please refer to our Conversion Timeline above for exact dates and times when account access will be unavailable.

Will the telephone banking system change?

Yes, effective January 9, 2017, you will now have access to MHV’s EARS Audio Banking System. Learn more about EARS here.

Will I get any new online services?

Yes, you will now have access to MHV’s Mobile Banking App with Mobile Check Deposit, FinanceWorks™ money management tool and Popmoney. Learn more about all the services MHV provides at mhvfcu.com/connect.

Can I still get copies of all my old checks in Online Banking?

Check images will be unavailable for all checks that clear and post prior to Thursday, January 5. If there are check copies that you need we suggest that you download them prior to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5.

Will I need to set up online Bill Pay information again when the update is complete?

Yes. Gather all Bill Payer payee information prior to 2:00pm on Thursday, January 5 to re-establish your Bill Pay information in MHV's Online Banking on or after Monday, January 9. Do not schedule any payments to be made after January 5 in CHEFCU's Bill Pay system.

I set up Alerts through Online Banking. Will I need to re-establish these?

Account alerts that were established in online banking will not carry over to MHV and will have to be reestablished on or after January 9.

Will my statement have a new look?

Yes, you can expect your statements to have a new look and contain the MHV logo starting with your January 2076 statement arriving at the beginning of February.

Will there be a delay in receiving my statements because of the conversion?

No, there will be no delay in receiving your statements.

Will my old Central Hudson EFCU e-Statements transfer over?

No. Your Central Hudson FCU e-Statement history will NOT carryover with the transition to MHV e-Statements. Be sure to download your e-Statement history before January 5.

Will my e-Statements change?

Yes. Your January e-statement will arrive at the beginning of February from the email address edocuments@mhvfcu.com. It is recommended that you add this email address to your address book in advance to avoid having your new MHV e-statements placed in your SPAM folder. You can expect your e-Statement to have a new look and contain the MHV logo. Please note: Your Central Hudson EFCU e-Statement history will NOT carryover with the transition to MHV e-Statements. Be sure to download your e-Statement history before January 5.

Do I need to re-enroll for e-Statements?

No, you will automatically start to receive e-Statements from MHV starting with your January 2016 e-Statement. However, your Central Hudson EFCU e-Statement history will NOT carryover with the transition to MHV e-Statements. Be sure to download your e-Statement history before January 5.

Is there a charge for paper statements?

Yes, effective January 9, 2016 paper statements will cost $2 per statement. You can easily avoid this charge by signing up for free e-Statements. Members under the age of 18 or over 60 will not be subject to the paper statement charge.

Will I need to order new checks?

No. You can still continue to use your Central Hudson EFCU checks. When it is time to reorder, your next set of checks will have the MHV logo and address. If you received a letter that your account number is changing, please contact us at 845.336.4444 to order new checks.
