In the spotlight: Ulster County SPCA & MHV

For more than 134 years, the Ulster County SPCA has been a cornerstone of animal welfare in the Kingston community. As a private, nonprofit organization—and Ulster County’s only humane law enforcement agency—the UCSPCA plays a critical role in protecting animals and supporting families throughout our region.

Their mission goes far beyond providing temporary shelter. The UCSPCA works to prevent cruelty to animals through a range of community-supported services, including low-cost spay/neuter programs for cats, adoption services that connect animals with loving homes, and cruelty investigations that ensure animals are safe and protected. Their team responds when animals are in need and works proactively to strengthen animal welfare across Ulster County.

At MHV, we believe local challenges require local solutions. Animal welfare is a community responsibility, and organizations like the UCSPCA lead the charge with compassion, professionalism, and dedication. That’s why for the month of March, MHV will match donations made to UCSPCA through the MHV Giving Center. Each member donation up to $20 will be matched for a maximum overall match of $1,500.

Community involvement is essential to sustaining this mission. Whether through MHV’s March match, adoption, fostering, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, there are many ways to make a difference.
