Up to $2,500 toward college. Here's where to apply.

Money should not be the reason someone stops at a high school diploma. Each year, MHV awards three $2,500 scholarships and sponsors four more at local colleges.

Each school administers the college awards, not us, so you apply through them. Here is what is available and where to start.

Available scholarships

MHV Scholarship – $2,500 each, three awards

MHV members who meet the eligibility requirements. Applications open in November.

SUNY Orange Foundation – $2,000

SUNY Orange students. Apply online; an essay may be required.

SUNY Ulster Foundation – $2,000

Two awards: one for an entering, returning, or transferring student who is an MHV member; one for a student who has shown a commitment to community service.

Dutchess Community College Foundation

MHV established this scholarship to help local credit union members attend DCC. It is awarded to a full-time student who is academically motivated and majoring in Business or a business-related field. Refer to the college for application and deadlines.

Marist – $1,000

Students can apply for the MHV-sponsored scholarship through Marist College's scholarship application process.

Before you apply

Deadlines are set by each school, not by MHV. Check with the college's financial aid or foundation office for this year's date. The MHV Scholarship opens in November.

The MHV Scholarship and two of the college awards require MHV membership. If you are not a member yet, opening an account takes about ten minutes online.

You can apply for more than one if you are eligible for more than one.

Do I have to be an MHV member to get a scholarship?

Yes, for the MHV Scholarship, the Dutchess Community College award, and one of the two SUNY Ulster awards. The SUNY Orange, Marist, and community-service SUNY Ulster awards are open to any eligible student at those schools.

How do I apply?

Through the school or organization that administers the award, not through MHV.

When are the deadlines?

Each school sets its own. The MHV Scholarship application opens in November. Check the administering foundation's page for this year's dates.

Can a high school senior apply?

Yes, for awards that accept entering students. Check each award's eligibility. If you are under 18 and need to open an MHV account to qualify, a parent or guardian can open it with you.
